Moses
Mark Howden was
born in Buffalo, New York in 1957. Mr. Howden attended Eastman
School of Music Preparatory Department, received his Bachelor's Degree
in Musical Performance at Ithaca College School of Music and Masters
Degree in Musical Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory
of Music. He has played professionally as the Principal Timpanist of the
Albany Symphony Orchestra; played percussion with the Buffalo
Philharmonic Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera Company, Associate Principal
Percussionist with the Colorado Springs Orchestra, and Lake George Opera
Company.
He has
also played percussion for Broadway Show revivals in New York City
"Dames At Sea" and internationally with "Once Upon a Mattress" sponsored
by the Minnesota Opera Company. He played percussion for notable popular
groups such as the "Fifth Dimension", "Ice Capades", and Grammy Award
Winning Jazz artists and producers Martin Ashby and Jay Ashby. Since
2005, he has been timpanist with the Southern Tier Symphony
Mr. Howden studied
private timpani with Roland Koloff (Julliard/New York Philharmonic),
Eugene Espino (Cincinnati Symphony), John Beck(Rochester Philharmonic),
and Paul Yanchich (Cleveland Symphony Orchestra). He his also a former
private composition student of Pulitzer Prize winning composer Karl
Husa.
